1970 Moretti 850 Sportiva S2

1970 Moretti 850 Sportiva S2 1970 Moretti 850 Sportiva S2 1970 Moretti 850 Sportiva S2 Giovanni Moretti founded his namesake company in Italy in 1925. By the 1950s, he was well known for his small-bore sports car competition success. However, by the 1960s, Moretti had fallen on tough financial times and began building his cars by utilizing mechanical and chassis components sourced from Fiat.

In 1965 Moretti unveiled the all-new Sportiva model, based on the Fiat 850. It was beautifully clothed in a sleek proportioned body designed by Giovanni Michelotti. In 1969, Moretti introduced the upscale Sportiva S2 with a revised front end that closely resembled Ferrari's Dino 246.

Originally sold in Switzerland, this car has documented history that dates back to the 1970s through the early 1980s. It was acquired and brought to the United States after receiving a full restoration returning it to its original specifications. The Moretti Sportiva S2 is one of about 300 Fiat-based cars built over a five-year period that ended in 1971. It is believed that less than 50 of the Sportiva S2s were built. Today, very few survive, and this prime example is one of just four currently known to exist and the only one in the United States.
