1959 OSCA Model 18S

The Maserati brothers founded OSCA in 1947 and this car was designed by Giovanni Michelotti. It was his first build after he opened his own studio in 1959. The car is Fiat-based including the floorpan, firewall, and drivetrain. The 1600cc 4-cylinder engine was modified by the Maserati brothers including a new head, cam, and induction system. The dual Weber carburetors are mounted between the valve covers in the center of the head. It was developed as a two-seat touring car while using a novel Pagoda-style roof later employed on the Mercedes-Benz 230SL. This two-seater has room for luggage behind the seats. There are indicator lights on the rear of the front wings.

When new, the car was shown at different shows and in different paint schemes over a three-year period: in Geneva, Switzerland in 1959, with a war red and black color; in Paris, France in 1960, in war red and black; and in Turin, Italy in 1961, wearing a white color.

The prototype acted as a test-bed for several production cars, including the Lancia Fulvia and BMW 3.0 CS.

After passing from Michelotti to a close friend of his, the car made its way to an owner in the United States. The car was found disassembled and stripped in Florida prior to restoration. The current owner, who purchased the car in 2014, chose to restore it to the war red and black colors. It made its show debut at the 2018 Radnor Hunt Concours d'Elegance following a restoration in the colors it wore at its Geneva Auto Show unveiling.
