Brembo: The Choice Of Racing Champions In 2018

Brembo will exhibit the latest in competition braking technology at the PRI Show in Indianapolis this week, exhibit #3631, December 6-8. Forty-three years ago, Brembo's first world championship was celebrated as Niki Lauda won his first F1 crown with Ferrari in 1975. In 2018, Brembo once again provided the stopping power for the F1 Championship winning Mercedes team with Lewis Hamilton. Nine teams combined to winall 21 races this year on Brembo brakes. This makes it 24 World Championship Drivers' and 28 World Championship Constructors' titles in the past 43 years. When one thinks of Brembo, sports car racing immediately comes to mind and rightfully so. In 2018, Brembo won its 26th overall victory in 26 years at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the #8 Toyota Gazoo Racing LMP1 Hybrid topped the podium. In addition, Brembo-equipped teams were crowned class winners in #36 LMP2 Signatech Alpine Matmut, #92 GTE-Pro Porsche and #77 GTE-Am Porsche. 'Once again Brembo proved to be the braking partner of choice on race tracks around the world,' Dan Sandberg, Brembo North America president and CEO, said. 'From Formula 1 with Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes to the demanding dirt of Baja with Cameron Steele, Brembo brakes stopped them all in victory lane. At Le Mans Brembo equipped teams stood on the podium more than any other braking brand. Into the future, Brembo will be stopping every Formula E car and we are happy to be on every Energica motorbike in the upcoming fully electric two-wheeled MotoE World Cup.' Dozens of other sports car teams equipped with Brembo Racing brakes were crowned champions in 2018. In the IMSA WeatherTech Championship, Brembo brakes stopped the all-new Cadillac DPi-V.R for four wins, including at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona and the Long Beach Grand Prix. Besides, the Brembo equipped Cadillac of the #31 Whelen Engineering team won the Prototype class and the Paul Miller Motorsports team took the GTD crown with Brembo brakes on their #48 Lamborghini Huracan. All three class winners at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona were stopped with Brembo brakes. Brembo continues to perform off-road as well. Cameron Steele and his Desert Assassin team was the four-wheel overall winner of the 51st BFGoodrich SCORE Baja 1000. Rob MacCachren won the SCORE 2018 Trophy Truck class season championship in his #11 Ford F150 Trophy Truck.

Brembo's dominance in racing in 2018 was not reserved for four-wheel vehicles as Brembo-equipped motorcycles won every race in the three top series this past year. All of the MotoGP competitors were on Brembo brakes including five-time champion Marc Marquez's Honda; Jonathan Rea rode his Brembo-equipped Kawasaki to the World Superbike championship for the fourth year in a row; and Cameron Beaubier of Yamaha was the MotoAmerica Superbike Champion. Brembo's dominance in motorcycles includes 28 MotoGP championships in the past 31 years, 26 out of 30 in world Superbike, and 26 straight in American Superbike. Founded in 1961, Brembo began racing in 1975 when Enzo Ferrari entrusted the Italian high-performance brake manufacturer with the task of fitting its most prestigious Formula 1 car.
