1977 Ford Granada

The mid-sized Ford Granada was produced from 1975 through 1982. The first generation was produced as a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe, lasting from 1975 through 1980. It shared the same chassis as the Maverick, which was first seen on the 1960 Ford Falcon. The second generation was a two-door sedan, four-door sedan, and five-door station wagon. It was positioned above the Ford Fairmont and rested on the Ford Fox platform. During its production lifespan, over two million examples were produced for the United States market.

Bodystyles on the 1977 Granada included a 2- and 4-door sedan with pricing beginning at $4,450. The 4-door version was slightly more popular with 35,730 sales while the 2-door version found 34,166 willing buyers. The base engine was an overhead valve six-cylinder unit displacing 200 cubic inches and offering around 100 horsepower.

The styling of the 1977 Granada was similar to 1976, with nine new body colors. New features included a full-synchronized four-speed manual transmission with overdrive on the fourth gear. Front disc brakes, steel-belted radial tires, full wheel covers, hood ornament, and an inside hood release were standard. The interiors had vinyl-trim bench seats, and a cigar lighter. New options included an automatic temperature-control air conditioning system, front cornering lamps, simulated wire wheel covers, four-way manual bucket seats, illuminated entry, whitewall radials, electric trunk lid release, and white lacy-spoke cast-aluminum wheels.

The Granada Ghia trim level had wide color-keyed vinyl-insert bodyside moldings, flight bench seats, left-hand remote-control mirror, and wire-style wheel covers. Partway through the year, a Sport Coupe package with Odense-grain half-vinyl roof became available. The Sport Coupes were given new taillamp lenses with black surround moldings, color-keyed sport mirrors, leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, black wiper arms and window moldings, and reclining bucket seats in simulated perforated vinyl.
