The seventh generation was introduced in the early 1990s and the existing 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine delivered over 100 horsepower. A dual overhead-cam 16-valve four-cylinder engine with a 1762cc displacement brought horsepower to 115. Transmission options included a five-speed manual or an automatic.
