1909 Enger Model B

The Enger Motor Company was founded by Frank J. Enger in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1909. The early vehicles were two-cylinder, 14-horsepower high-wheeler. The horizontally opposed, air-cooled engine was placed over the front axle and covered with a conventional hood. This gave it the appearance of many automobiles on the road, but with large wheels. The 1909 Enger was offered as the Model B Runabout, a Model C Victoria, and a Model D Victoria Stanhope. The Model B and Model rested on a 90-inch wheelbase and an 88-inch wheelbase for the Model D.

By 1910, Enger automobiles were powered by a four-cylinder overhead valve engine that Frank had designed. The 1915 Enger was a Model-6-50 powered by a six-cylinder, 30-horsepower engine, replaced a year later by a 12-cylinder engine.

In August of 1916, the Enger Company was reorganized to raise additional funds. After learning that he had cancer, Frank shot and killed himself on January 4th of 1917, at the age of 58. In March 1917, the company was in receivership.
