1968 Ferves Ranger

The Ferves Ranger was introduced in 1966 at the Turin Motor Show as a unique, compact off-roader. It was designed by Carlo Ferrari and its name was derived from the abbreviation of FERrari VEicoli Speciali (Ferrari Special Vehicles). It was built using components from the Fiat 500 and 600, with an 18-horsepower rear-mounted engine sourced from the 500. The all-independent suspension was from the 600D. The unique body included a folding windscreen and doors (which could easily be removed), and seating for four passengers. Both two- and four-wheel drive versions were offered to make it suitable for either relaxed around-the-town driving or covering off-road terrain. Its off-road capabilities were further aided by a low gear ratio.

Approximately 600 Rangers were built and it is believed that fewer than 50 examples remain in existence.
