1978 Lamborghini Urraco

Italian automaker Lamborghini introduced the Urraco in 1970 at the Turin Auto Show but was available to buyers until 1973. It was named after a Miura-breed of fighting bulls (the name translates to 'little bull') and its 2+2 coupe bodywork was designed by Marcello Gandini, at the time working for Carrozzeria Bertone. Production continued through 1979 with a total of 791 examples having been built. Twenty-one of these were labelled Urraco PIII (P250 Tipo III) for the American market. The PIII examples were built to comply with American regulations and fitted with larger front bumpers and emission controls, the latter resulting in a decrease in horsepower for the American version. The other Urraco versions were the Urraco P200, Urraco P250 and Urraco P300 with 2 liters, 2.5 liters, and 3 liter V-8 respectively. Only 77 of these cars were manufactured for the Italian market as there was a luxury tax for all cars over 2 litres.

The Lamborghini Urraco had a wheelbase of 96.5-inches, a length of 167.3-inches, a height of 47.7-inches, and a width of 69.3-inches. The 122 cubic-inch (2.0-liter) V8 engine was fitted in the P200, the P250 and P111 used the 153 cubic-inch (2.5-liter) V8, and the P300 was powered by a 183 cubic-inch (3.0-liter) version. The 2.0-liter version produced 180 horsepower and 130 lb/ft of torque and was installed in 66 examples (P200). The 2.5-liter version powering the P250 delivered 217 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Zero-to-sixty mph was accomplished in 6.9 seconds and the top speed was 149 mph. A total of 250 examples of the P250 were built. The P300 used the 3.0-liter version and produced 247 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The top speed was 162 mph and zero-to-sixty mph took 5.6 seconds. A total of 190 examples of the P300 were built.
