1979 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe

'The Turbo's dramatically flared wheel arches and large rear spoiler caught the imagination of enthusiasts the world over.' Launched in October 1974 it left the U.S. market in July 1979, only to return again in August 1985. The first stock engine, code 930/50 - hence the confusion of naming the car a '930' instead of '911' - was a 2992cc flat-six with single KKK Typ 3LDZ exhaust-driven turbocharger. In 1978 the motor was enlarged to 3.3-liters with a quoted 300 horsepower and an intercooler mounted under the rear spoiler.

This Porsche 911 Turbo has just 19,417 miles since new. It is finished in silver metallic paint and red leather interior. It was sold in September of 1980 by Neil Huffman Porsche in Montgomery, Alabama to Neil Huffman Datsun in Louisville, KY. He had it brought over to his dealership headquarters in Kentucky. Records show the car in his ownership until at least 1992. After Huffman's ownership the car found its way to a collector in Texas, followed by an owner in New Jersey.

This car has the rear 'whale tail', an enlarged 3.3 liter engine with air-to-air intercooler which helped increase the power output to 296 horsepower.
