In 1935 the V12 Lincoln became known as the Model K, and various different body styles from several coachbuilders were offered until 1940.
This 1937 Lincoln Model K is one of 977 Model Ks built that year in 21 different body styles. One of only 7 Semi-Collapsible Cabriolets by Brunn (styled 359B), it was a very rare and very expensive car when new - and remains so. (Semi-Collapsible is in reference to the top over both the driver and rear passenger seating areas that can be removed or lowered). It is built to the highest standards with twin side-mounted spare wheels, a radio, large occasional seats in the rear passenger compartment, and radio communication (intercom system) between the passengers and the chauffeur. The landaulette features a wind-down division to the front to preserve the occupant's privacy, which explains why these Lincolns were the choice of presidents and such movie stars as Rita Hayworth, Joan Crawford and Clark Gable. Of particular note on this very original Lincoln is the original Beals & Selkirk trunk on the rear luggage rack.
This Lincoln is a totally original preserved example of Brunn coachwork, penned by Hermann A. Brunn, and lovingly cared for by just a few owners over its history. Power for this K is provided by Lincoln's 414 cubic-inch V-12 engine. Brunn and Company of Buffalo, New York, was one of Lincon's preferred custom coachbuilders, chosen by Edsel Ford to provide an array of elegant options for Lincoln customers. Brunn had been in business since 1898 and had transitioned from horse-drawn to motor vehicle-mounted coachwork. hermann A. Brunn, the son of founder Hermann C. Brunn, served for years among the Honorary Judges at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and he often spoke of the wonderful relationship Brunn had with Edsel Ford and Lincoln.
