1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo Slant Nose

The factory racing 935s popularized the 'slant nose' design and during the late 1970s, Porsche tuners such as Kremer and Ruf offered to modify customer cars with the slant nose front end. In 1981, Porsche announced they would offer a special-order slant nose front-end treatment. It was originally only available in Europe but by 1985 buyers in the United States were able to purchase the design. In the United States, the slant nose conversion added $23,826 to the cost of a Turbo. However, customers who ordered through the factory were able to maintain the Porsche warranty and the design's crash-worthiness was approved by the feds.

The base price for the Porsche slant nose was expensive, but it did guarantee its exclusivity. This particular 1988 Slant Nose Turbo Targa is one of just 14 produced in 1988 and one of only 31 delivered from 1987 through 1989. It is finished in Grand Prix White with matching Fuchs wheels and a Lipstick Red interior. The turbocharged flat-6 engine displaces 3.3 liters and produced 282 horsepower. There is a Porsche 4-speed manual gearbox, limited-slip differential, heated seats with lumbar support, air compressor, tool roll, manuals and car cover. When new, this car has an MSRP of $106,581 with $32,000 worth of options.

This was the last year for the air cooled Turbo with a 4-speed.
