DBR1s were the most successful of the racing Aston Martins. First seen in 1957 they beat the opposition at the Nurburgring that year. This car, DBR1/4 was entered by Aston Martin at LeMans in 1959, and it finished second driven by Maurice Trintignant and Paul Frere. Originally built as a DBR3 in 1958, it was converted to DBR1 specifications. Just four DBR1s were built by the factory. An additional DBR1 was later built by factory supplied parts.
