For 1989, the Chevrolet Caprice came powered with a V-8 engine and air conditioning as standard equipment. The 305 cubic-inch V8 was given throttle-body fuel injection while the Caprice wagons were given a carbureted V8, displacing 307 cubic-inches and delivering 140 horsepower. Bodystyles included a 4-door Sedan, Brougham, and Wagon. Around 173,255 Caprice sedan models (including the base, Caprice Classic and Caprice Classic Brougham) were produced in 1989.Standard equipment on the Caprice Classic included a manual passenger-side mirror, remote-control driver's mirror, AM/FM stereo radio with built-in clock, and an automatic headlamp on/off feature. The base price for the Caprice Classic Sedan was $14,450, approximately $600 more than the base Caprice model. The Classic Brougham listed for an additional (approximately) $1,200 over the Caprice Classic. They were equipped with additional trim, chrome, and accouterments.The Caprice Classic Brougham Preferred equipment package included AM/FM cassette, power windows, 6-way power driver and passenger seats, power locks, cruise control, wire wheel covers, comfort tilt steering wheel, gauge package, bodyside moldings, twilight sentinel, dlx luggage, compartment trim, intermittent wipers, cornering lamps, trunk opener, illuminated right-hand visor mirror, color-keyed carpeted floor mats, twin remote sport mirrors.
