1999 Monte Carlo represents two distinct personalities coexisting in harmony. On one hand, Monte Carlo's spirited performance demonstrates the heart of a champion -- it's the winningest nameplate in NASCAR Winston Cup history. On the other hand, it's a personal statement of luxury.

Monte Carlo demonstrates its refined side with a cleanly styled interior and available appointments such as driver and front-passenger temperature controls, AM/FM stereo with CD player, leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, a power sliding sunroof, Remote Keyless Entry system and bucket seats with leather seating surfaces.

Another luxury provided by Monte Carlo is peace of mind through the optional dealer-installed OnStar system. OnStar provides 24-hour access to a comprehensive and user-friendly communications service developed to date for the automotive industry, including Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite technology -- all through a cellular phone.

Beneath Monte Carlo's sleek, aerodynamic body is a penchant for spirited performance, beginning with the 3100 V6 SFI engine, standard on LS models. This engine is mated to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic overdrive transmission.

Monte Carlo Z34 takes performance to the next level with the power of the 3800 Series II V6 engine -- the same engine used in the Z34 Pace Car. The 3800 Series II V6 produces 200 smooth-running horsepower and 225 lb.-ft. of torque for impressive off-the-line performance. Teamed with the 3800 is a premium four-speed automatic transmission and the fully-independent Ride and Handling Suspension.

Monte Carlo Z34 also features standard four-wheel disc brakes with 4-wheel ABS and the grip of P225/60R-16 Goodyear Eagle RS-A performance tires, complemented by aggressive-looking 16-inch, machined-face aluminum wheels.

For 1999, Monte Carlo receives a new exterior color as Medium Auburn Nightmist Metallic replaces Deep Purple Metallic.
