VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. (April 2, 2015) – Dennis Haysbert, who portrayed baseball slugger Pedro Cerrano in the Major League film trilogy and stars in the Fox hit TV series '24,' has been named Grand Marshal of the third annual Pinehurst Concours d'Elegance vintage car showcase at Pinehurst Resort on May 2.

The film and television actor will spend two days at the 2015 Pinehurst Concours in connection with the USO of North Carolina – the event's main charity.

'It is an honor for me to come and stand behind the USO of NC, our troops and their families for such a recognized event such as the 2015 Pinehurst Concours d'Elegance,' Haysbert said. 'Any time we can blend a special event like the Pinehurst Concours with honoring our military and their sacrifices that they make every day is an absolute pleasure of mine.'

Haysbert has performed many USO tours, most recently in Italy, Germany, Southwest Asia, Afghanistan, and aboard a Naval Ship.

Haysbert has appeared in 40 films and 50 television shows. In addition to portraying Cerrano in the Major League films, Haysbert also played Secret Service agent Tim Collin in the 1997 political thriller film Absolute Power, David Palmer on the American television series 24, Sergeant Major Jonas Blane on the drama series The Unit and Detective John Almond in Backstrom. He has also appeared in the Oscar-nominated films Love Field and Far from Heaven.

At the Pinehurst Concours on Friday, May 1, Haysbert will drive with a heroic solider in the Iron Mike Rally to Fort Bragg, meet and greet troops attending that event, then visit with members of the Fort Bragg Special Forces unit.

On Saturday, May 2, Haysbert will address the patrons in attendance at the judged car showcase, and assist in handing out the event's coveted awards.

'We're proud of our strong military connection, which has been a major focus of the Pinehurst Concours from its inception three years ago, and in particular this year's partnership with the USO of North Carolina,' said Pinehurst Concours president Jay Howard. 'Having such a recognizable and respected figure as Mr. Haysbert on hand for our event is a great way to help thank our troops and enhance the overall fan experience.'
