The Toyota Crown has been in production since 1955 and currently sold in the Japanese market and other Asian markets. The 1971 Toyota Crown wore all-new styling, its fourth major redesign since its introduction, and was the first version to be officially known worldwide as the Toyota Crown, while the previous generations had been marketed under the Toyopet. This generation introduced the luxurious Super Saloon trim level, the Super Deluxe, and Deluxe. The Royal Saloon was the top-of-the-line trim level and came with luxury amenities from the Century limousine. The 4M 2600 engine was introduced with this generation along with the 2.0-liter 5R inline-four engine and the 2.0-liter M six-cylinder engine. Several differences existed between the import and export version, with the domestic market receiving rectangular halogen headlights, while the export models had twin round headlights.
