Cantonian (Canton Ohio) Arthur Holmes had been an executive for the Franklin Motorcar Company and returned to his hometown to produce approximately 500 of these air-cooled luxury cars. The company failed when the vice president was charged with embezzlement and larceny. Reorganization plans failed.

This certificate was issued to Mr. Charles Carlson for the purchase of 10 shares of Common Stock in the Holmes Automobile Company on April 9, 1917.
