Audi Of America's President Scott Keogh Co-Chairs Alliance To Save Energy Commission On Transportation Efficiency

•Commission to explore ways to decrease transportation sector energy use by half by 2050

•Keogh joins Dean Seavers of National Grid to co-chair commission

HERNDON, Virginia, October 26, 2017 – Audi of America President Scott Keogh joins Dean Seavers, president of National Grid U.S., to co-chair the Commission on U.S. Transportation Sector Efficiency at the Alliance to Save Energy.

With Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto and Fort Worth, Texas Mayor Betsy Price, as well as executives across transportation, energy, and technology industries, the commission will develop a pathway and recommendations to reduce energy use in the U.S. transportation sector by 50 percent by 2050 while meeting future mobility needs.

The Alliance Commission on U.S. Transportation Sector Efficiency has been formed to improve energy efficiency and spur greater innovation across the transportation sector.

The '50 by 50' Commission will lead six technical committees that will each explore a different transportation theme. The committees will submit policy recommendations to the commission for review and approval. Following an outside peer-review process, the commission will publish a final report, and engage local, state, and national officials, key stakeholder groups and the public to act on the recommendations.

Transportation represents roughly one-third of U.S. energy consumption. The sector is undergoing a transformation – ranging from the increased viability of advanced fuels such as electrification to automation and shared mobility, which offer enormous opportunities to improve energy efficiency. Such improvements will create jobs, improve energy security, boost competitiveness, save businesses and consumers money, and reduce emissions.
