BREMBO FORMULA 1 BAHRAIN BRAKE FACTS

BREMBO FORMULA 1 BAHRAIN BRAKE FACTSDETROIT, (Apr. 17, 2015) – Brembo continues its initiative of developing and providing brake facts for each of the 20 races on the Formula One calendar. This weekend Formula One heads to Bahrain and the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

The Bahrain International Circuit is one of the most demanding circuits for brakes. The races on the Sakhir track, surrounded by the desert, are characterized by high temperatures that increase mechanical grip and make it difficult to dissipate the heat generated during braking. This aspect, combined with the presence of numerous high energy braking sections which are quite close together, makes Sakhir a hard test bench for all the braking system components which are continuously stressed by the high energy forces and the hellishly hot temperatures. If the drivers want to finish the race, the high wear of the friction material is the biggest danger that must be avoided.

All teams equipped with Brembo will use the improved CER 300 disc material, while Brembo continues its research in this field to produce composite materials that continue to offer more performance and controllability. Teams will also use the new ventilated CCR 700 brake pads. During the season, Brembo supplies on average 10 sets of calipers, 140-240 discs and 280-480 brake pads to each two-car teams.

Brembo has developed a dedicated Formula One site within the official Brembo website. In addition to technical data relative to the braking points of each circuit, this dedicated section also offers race fans countless other fascinating facts about the braking systems created for Formula One race cars. www.formula1.brembo.com.

The 2015 season marks the 40th Anniversary of Brembo's first entry into motorsports. Brembo supplied its first racing brake system to Ferrari in 1975 in the Formula One World Championship. Since then, the Italian company has invested heavily in research and development of highly innovative and technological products.
