FROM WORLD RALLYING TO THE AUSTRALIAN MILITARY, UK BRAKE AND CLUTCH MANUFACTURER ALCON FORGES AHEAD ON ALL FRONTS

2015 is proving to be remarkably successful for Tamworth, UK based brake and clutch manufacturer, Alcon Components. Having made further inroads into the OEM sector with the ground-breaking new Peugeot 308 GTI, they have also helped Volkswagen Motorsport on their way to another WRC championship. In a completely different sector, Alcon have worked with Supacat and the Australian Special Forces to supply an advanced braking system for the Supacat Jackal.

ALCON HIT THE FRONT WITH THE NEW PEUGEOT HOT HATCH

June's Goodwood Festival of Speed saw the all-new Peugeot 308 GTI make a spectacular debut. Described as the fastest, hardest production hot hatch to date, the 250 bhp version pushes the competition right to the edge with its 0 - 62 mph in 6 seconds. This kind of power takes some stopping, which explains why Peugeot asked Alcon Components to supply the braking system comprising 'race-developed' 380mm cast iron brake discs, mounted on aluminium hubs, with four piston fixed calipers. Alcon's sales director, Jon Edwards says, 'We're particularly proud of our collaboration with Peugeot. Our work together has resulted in a braking system that will be more than capable of controlling the power of the latest iconic front runner in the hot hatch sector.'

VOLKSWAGEN MOTORSPORT HEADS FOR WRC HAT-TRICK

As the 2015 World Rally Championships heads towards its November climax, Volkswagen Motorsport are set fair to win a third successive title. Driver Sebastian Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia have yet again performed wonders, winning six of the nine rallies to date. Their second generation VW Polo R features a state of the art Alcon braking system, including master cylinders and balance bar.

Ben Edwards, sales manager motorsport is unashamedly proud of this year's achievement. 'The battle for the no. 2 spot is neck and neck, but it has to be said, there's no place like first place and we're thrilled to be an integral part of Volkswagen Motorsport's winning formula.'
