Statement by American Honda Regarding Combination Meter Software Non-compliance Recall: 2016 Pilot

November 3, 2015 by Honda

Honda will voluntarily recall 35,406 model-year 2016 Pilot vehicles in the United States to update the combination meter software free of charge. No market occurrences have been reported related to this non-compliance issue, which was discovered through internal testing.

A software error in the combination meter may cause warning lamps to fail to illuminate if there is a problem with the system that communicates certain system errors to the combination meter. This condition would create a non-compliance with NHTSA FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard): 126, 135 and 138. The software update will correct the combination meter operation.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Mailed notification to customers will begin in late November. Additionally, owners of these vehicles can now determine if their vehicles require repair by going to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
