A Throw Back To The International Race of Champions (IROC)

Clearwater, FL (March 9th, 2016) - Historic Sportscar Racing officials along with Jochen Mass announced today a new series which will feature the iconic race cars of the famed Porsche IROC series. The Classic RS Cup. The Classic RS Cup will be featured at 5 of HSR's 2016 events, debuting at the picturesque Virginia International Raceway for the WISKO GRAND PRIX, Memorial Day Weekend. May 26-29. The Classic RS Cup will then be featured at the Atlanta Fall Historics September 15-18 followed by the Savannah Speed Classic October 27-30 & the Daytona Historics November 10-13. The series Champion will be crowned at the finale at the Sebring Historics December 1-4. 'This group of Porsche's has been such a huge part of HSR for the last 20 years and to finally get their own series is going to be exciting for the driver's and the teams', said HSR President, David Hinton. ABOUT HSR: HSR was formed in the mid-'70s with an event at Road Atlanta. There was one goal then and it remains true today: to celebrate the race cars from our past. As a 'time machine' of sights and sounds, HSR provides a venue for competitors and spectators alike to share in the wonderful history and excitement created by the cars that competed at race tracks around the world.
