Tomorrow, Saturday 28 May, Saracens fans will descend on Twickenham to cheer on their team in the Premiership Rugby Final. Local Retailer Alan Day Volkswagen is a proud partner of the reigning Premiership champions, whose run of success continues with its recent victory in the European Champions Cup, and provides Volkswagen models – including the Golf, Scirocco and Tiguan – and commercial vehicles for use by players and the coaching team.

In addition, Alan Day Volkswagen backs Saracens' affiliate team, Sarrie's RFC – a rugby squad for children with a disability. Recently Alan Day Volkswagen supported Sarrie's RFC as it undertook its first ever disability rugby tour.

Sarrie's RFC is run for children with a disability with a view to helping them to improve their rugby skills and to have a positive effect on their social skills. The children have a variety of disabilities such as autism or ADHD, and can struggle when facing new situations or places. Alan Day Volkswagen – based in North West London, just five miles from Saracens' Hendon home – supports the team by providing not just coaching, but also kits, tackle bags and all the related equipment that is involved in making Sarrie's RFC an outstanding success.

The club's inaugural disability rugby tour took place this month when a group of 14 boys aged between 12 and 19 went to see Saracens play Worcester. The real fun came before the Premiership fixture, when Sarrie's RFC played a game against a team of fellow players with a disability from Worcester. The day started with exercises at the Worcester Warriors' stadium to integrate the two groups through tackling drills and different variations of touch rugby, which helps to improve their communication skills and team work. It concluded with a mini tournament that Alan Day Managing Director Paul Tanner and volunteers from the Volkswagen Retailer took part in.

After receiving trophies and awards, and lunch, Sarrie's RFC watched Saracens triumph 19-43. And after the game Paul Tanner arranged for the Sarrie's RFC group to meet the victorious Saracens team, who posed for selfies and signed autographs.

'We've been involved with the Saracens Sports Foundation for 18 months,' said Paul. 'I go along with some of my team every Monday at 4pm, and we help to coach the Sarrie's RFC players. It is rewarding and it's fun, too. It's an important part of my week.

'Several of my team do it and more want to be involved. It means a lot to people in our business. Occasionally I'm asked how we can give up so much of our time but the answer is simple, it's just that we love seeing the kids grow from week to week. It's priceless, and the team at Alan Day are so grateful to be involved in what is a brilliant programme.

'The group we work with are all aged between 12 and 19 and they can all join in with the coaches. They love being involved at the home of Saracens and we work with them in different areas, such as hitting tackle bags and playing touch rugby, and they get a certificate at the end.

'It plays a big part in the success of Saracens too, the players recognise how community-focused the club is and they often give up their Monday evenings to come along. That sense of togetherness is, I'm sure, a part of the brilliant success that Saracens has enjoyed in the past couple of years in the Premiership and in Europe.'

Paul added: 'The Saracens guys are so up for the Premiership Final on Saturday. They want to do the double, to add to the European Champions Cup win!'
