HONDA RACING TARGETING SCOTTISH SUCCESS

June 22, 2016 by Honda

After a successful official British Superbike test last week at Snetterton, the Honda Racing team and its trio of riders are looking forward to heading north of the border this weekend for the fourth round of the MCE British Superbike Championship, at Knockhill in Scotland.

It's been a long break for Dan Linfoot, Jason O'Halloran and Jenny Tinmouth since the last round at Brands Hatch in May, but all three are raring to go aboard their Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade machines this weekend.

Targeting success at the 1.3-mile Fife circuit, Linfoot and O'Halloran are both looking to step up and, after being in the mix with the top group at the recent test, they are confident in the settings found, which they will take to Knockhill.

Meanwhile, team-mate Tinmouth will celebrate her 100th BSB race start before the weekend's first race. The first lady of the British Superbike series has been in the championship since 2011 and is looking to further progress at Knockhill after an encouraging test with improved lap times and changes to her CBR machine.

Well we're coming up to the fourth round of the British Superbike Championship now and hopefully a turning point for the team. We enjoyed a very successful test last week at Snetterton, which saw both Dan and Jason in the mix towards the top of the timesheets. We also found some potential areas where we know we can improve and be stronger with the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. We all know that if we want to move forward then we need to be upping the game and I think the test has given everyone that boost again. The changes that we have made are very positive for both the riders and also the CBR, so I'm hopeful this will help us and it will all come together to start chasing podiums. Jenny will celebrate her 100th BSB race start this weekend, which is a big milestone and she continues to improve every time she's on the Fireblade, again we just need to maintain the consistency and get the race finishes. We're so close with all three, we just need some careful fine-tuning and I'm sure the results will follow.

Again the last round at Brands Hatch seemed to take too long to get going, which seems to be a theme at the moment! By the second race we'd found something strong with the settings and I was about two seconds off the win. We went to Snetterton to continue working on what we'd found at Brands and the test went really well and we finished about 0.4 seconds off pole, but again it took some time to get into the flow. So the key thing for this weekend is to get on it straight away and not take a day to get a decent lap time! I'm looking forward to getting to Knockhill, we only get to ride there once a year as there's no testing there, but it's a good little track and fun to ride. So we just now need to see what the weather throws at us and I'm 11th in the standings so need a good weekend to recover points and grow as much as I can.

Dan Linfoot / #4

We had a really good two-day test last week at Snetterton and I enjoyed being back on the Fireblade after a little break in the championship. We tried a few things during the test, which were all positive including some changes to the chassis and I also worked on some personal improvements, with my lines and corners. I came away from the last round at Brands Hatch fairly positive as I had improved my lap times and was a lot closer to the rest of the field. Knockhill is a great circuit, which always brings a smile to my face. It's like a rollercoaster; it's up and down and very fast, but it all flows together and is great to ride. I'm heading into the weekend confident after the test and also the last round and just can't wait to get out there now for practice and to race again!

Jenny Tinmouth / #20

We had a two-day test last week, which was good for us and we managed to test some new parts on the CBR. I felt we took a huge step forward with the setting and also the feeling on the front of the bike and it was just so good to get back out there after the break. I'm going to Knockhill happy, we had a good outing there last year qualifying in fourth place and then ending the weekend with two fifth places, so compared to previous years it was a nice breakthrough there. We're definitely in a stronger position this year with the feeling compared to last year and I'm arriving feeling comfortable and confident, but you can never chance it with a circuit like Knockhill, but I am feeling good and looking forward to the busy start of the season with races pretty much every two weeks now. It's been a funny start with me missing half of last year, then three races to kick the season off and then the long break, so I'm looking forward to getting the next few rounds under my belt and collecting some vital points to move further up the Showdown and really secure a place there nice and early.
