RENAULT VANS BUILD ON RECORD UK SALES WITH 20 PER CENT GROWTH IN FIRST HALF OF 2016

Renault van sales in the UK grew by 20.3 per cent to 13,435 vehicles in the first quarter of 2016, in a van market that grew by 2.5 per cent, according to official figures released today from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
LCV market share for the first half of 2016 stood at 7.0 per cent – up 1 percentage point on the same period in 2015.
It was a similar story for the LCV manufacturer during the month of June, with sales totalling 3,390 vehicles; up by 47.6 per cent on June 2015, considerably outpacing a van market up 2.4 per cent. Market share stood at 9.1 per cent – up 2.8 percentage points compared to June 2015.
The award-winning Trafic has proved as popular as ever with business users across the UK with 8,722 of the third generation model being sold in the UK in the first half of 2016 – up 37.8 per cent on the same period in 2015. Renault's growth in the van market builds upon a record year for LCV sales in the UK last year.
Commenting on the results, Paul Flanagan, Managing Director, Groupe Renault UK & Ireland, said: 'After a record year for Renault vans in the UK in 2015 with sales up some 40 per cent, Renault has seen even further growth in vans in the first half of 2016 with sales up 51 per cent. Our current performance reflects Renault's ever-increasing appeal in the UK van market with our offering of an innovative and efficient range of vans, supported by our growing business-focused Renault Pro+ network, and continues to aid in the delivery of our GO5+ mid-term plan objectives.'
The Renault LCV range consists of the Kangoo compact van comprising of Kangoo, Kangoo Maxi and 100 per cent electric-in-use Kangoo van Z.E, the Trafic panel van, available in both Passenger and high-roof bodystyles as well as the large Master van in Passenger, Panel and Crew Van specifications. A comprehensive range of converted LCV products are also available to order, built by Renault and Renault-approved coachbuilders. The 100 per cent electric-in-use Twizy Cargo quadricycle is also a part of the LCV line-up – a unique way of transporting smaller items around urban environments with zero emissions in use.
Renault has been Europe's number one LCV manufacturer for the last eighteen consecutive years and was Europe's number one electric van manufacturer in 2015.
Groupe Renault, which comprises Renault cars, vans and Dacia, has experienced unprecedented growth over the last three years, consistently outpacing the UK market. This growth has continued into 2016 with 71,492 Group vehicles being sold in the first six months of the year for a market share of 4.4 per cent – up 14.4 per cent and almost double that of the total market growth rate of 3.1 per cent. Of that total, Renault cars represented 44,570 vehicles (up 21.0 per cent), Renault vans 13,435 vehicles (up 20.3 per cent) and Dacia 13,445 vehicles.
