WORLD'S BEST PARALLEL PARKER TO SLIDE INTO ACTION AT ‘MINI IN THE PARK'

Stunt driver Alastair Moffatt promises to be the star of an action-packed show during this year's Mini in the Park event at Santa Pod Raceway on August 14.

Moffatt is the Guinness World Record Holder for the tightest parallel park, at a tiny 7.5cm longer than the Fiat 500C 1.2 he was driving. He also holds the record for tightest gap driven through on two wheels and the tightest triple parallel park. He is expected to show off his extensive driving skills at the wheel of a Mini during an amazing routine for the 'MITP'.

Mini In The Park attracts thousands of classic Mini owners and new MINI owners looking to buy parts, modifications and accessories, but it's the spectacle on the Santa Pod's famous strip that promises to keep pulses racing.

As well as Moffatt's scintillating stunt show, the strip plays host to Dan Goodwin's flame-spitting 'Turbonator', the 120mph Quarter Mile karts and the world's only DIY gas turbine-powered drag Jet Bike 'True Cut' that should top out at 150mph.

Event manager Katherine Chappell said: 'Mini In The Park is extremely excited to have Alastair joining us for this special event and we cannot wait to see the incredible stunts he will perform for us. Spectators are guaranteed a treat.'

The event is also host to MiniWorld magazine's 25th anniversary celebrations and most notable among this, will be a display of featured cars from the past, present and future issues. Expect restored classics and some beautifully modified examples to excite and inspire every Mini fan.

Gates open at 2pm on the Saturday, with entertainment from 7.30pm including live music on the summer stage. Admission is £5 per person in advance or £10 per person on arrival (gates close 2am Sunday morning).

The evening at MITP 2016 will include the Brighton Beatles, one of the best fab four tribute acts in the country. Prizes for those wearing proper 60s get-up are up for grabs in a Beatles-based fancy dress competition.
