CRACKING CHRISTMAS SALE ENDS BARONS' YEAR ON A HIGH
December 16, 2016 by Barons
Barons finished a very busy year with a bustling and successful Christmas Classic sale at Sandown Park on December 13th, with many entries achieving strong results, selling for, or exceeding, top estimate.
Barons' Auction Manager Tim Gascoigne said, 'With 109 lots of Automobilia, several registration numbers and some 90 cars and motorcycles on offer, the auctioneer was kept busy. The large entry attracted a big crowd; the sale hall was packed, and a record number of registered bidders were in attendance. The festive feel was fuelled by mince pies and glasses of bubbly. The annual Christmas Classic was a great end to 2016 for Barons.'
The main attraction was the 'garage find' 1985 Ferrari Mondial Quattrovalvole QV V8 (estimate £6,000-£9,000) which finally sold for £16,775 after frantic bidding in the hall, on the internet and on the telephone.
The beautiful 1954 Bentley R Type found a new home for £29,700, while the elegant 1966 Mercedes 250 SE Coupe sold for £23,650 and the stunning 1951 MG TD Competition Abington Mk2 achieved £28,050.
It was also a strong afternoon for Jaguars, with a Series 1 'rolling restoration' E-type going for £45,650, a Mk2 240 selling for £23,100, and XJS Celebration for £18,975 and a 'like new' XK8 for £17,600.
While the Barons team can relax over Christmas, they'll be hard at work again in the New Year, with a seven-sale calendar confirmed for 2017:
