Honda Recognizes Suppliers For Environmental Sustainability

November 25, 2017 by Honda

Nov 20, 2017 - MARYSVILLE, Ohio -- Honda honored nine suppliers at its recent Supplier Sustainability Symposium in Columbus for their commitment and innovative approaches to environmental responsibility in and around their North American facilities.

Those sustainability efforts included biodiversity initiatives, as well as projects that resulted in significant reductions in energy consumption, fresh water use and waste to landfill.

'Our impact on the environment is something that we consider in everything we do at Honda, and our suppliers are making great strides in their own sustainability efforts,' said Mark Willoughby, HNA Division Manager, Procurement. 'The suppliers we have recognized this year went above and beyond in developing their own environmental processes, but most importantly, they are making a real difference in their impact on society.'

Bridgestone America Tire Operations was recognized for programs at its facilities in Wilson, North Carolina and in Joliette, Quebec, Canada, saving more than 9 million gallons of water per year while protecting a valuable watershed in North Carolina.

FCC Indiana in Portland, Indiana and Nucor Corporation in Decatur, Alabama earned honors for energy reduction programs that eliminated more than 1,300 Metric Tons of CO2 per year.

Applied Acoustics International, located in Chicago Heights, Illinois, designed a closed-loop water system that saved 17.6 million gallons of water per year, cutting its usage by 60 percent.

Axalta Coating Systems in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, which was honored earlier in the year with Honda's Supplier Sustainability Award for its exceptional commitment to social responsibility, Borg Warner Morse Systems located in El Salto, Mexico and Jefferson Elora Corporation in Elora, Ontario, Canada all developed new waste reduction procedures that reduced wastewater sludge, oil usage and waste-to-landfill.
