2018 Mazda3 Sedan And Mazda CX-5 Earn Good Housekeeping 2018 Best New Car AwardsIRVINE, Calif. (February 13, 2018) – The 2018 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV and the 2018 Mazda3 compact sedan have both been recognized for Good Housekeeping magazine's 2018 Best New Car Awards.

The Good Housekeeping Institute (GHI) collaborated with Car and Driver magazine, sifting through more than 100 new vehicles. Together, they narrowed the count down to 25 vehicles, putting more than 3,000 miles on them on test tracks and on the road. The GHI Labs and consumer testers rated the cars and SUVs tested on safety, value, handling, design, comfort and technology.

'The Mazda vehicles really stood out when you look at the number of features you get for the price point,' says Laurie Jennings, director of the Good Housekeeping Institute. 'We were impressed by the exterior and interior styling, and it's clear their design team worked hard to eliminate as much visual noise as possible. You also get a much quieter ride, which is great for parents with kids in the backseat or people who log a lot of miles on the highway.'

Having gone on sale last spring, the thoroughly redesigned Mazda CX-5 has drawn praise for its class-above quality, quiet ride and refinement. For 2018, CX-5 adds numerous upgrades that continue to put it in a favorable light against more expensive premium SUVs like heated front and second-row seats, BOSE® 10-speaker audio system and windshield-projected Active Driving Display. The 2018 CX-5 further improves on performance and efficiency with new cylinder-deactivation technology that can reduce fuel consumption. This new features helps Mazda maintain its position as the highest overall Manufacturer Adjusted Fuel Economy for the fifth year in a row, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Other industry accolades for Mazda CX-5 include Car and Driver's 10Best Trucks and SUVs for 2018, Top Safety Pick recognition by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Wards Auto '10 Best UX' for its intuitively designed cabin. The 2018 CX-5 carries a starting MSRP1 of $24,150.

For Mazda3, this is the second time it has been selected for this award. Year in and year out, Mazda3 has collected accolades for its design, safety and value, all helping make it the best-selling Mazda in the world. The 2018 Mazda3 receives newly standard features in all trim levels that continue to reinforce the philosophy of putting people first. More safety features include the newly standard Smart City Brake Support automatic emergency braking that can help provide occupants with enhanced peace of mind. Available as a sedan or a hatchback, this compact car is able to handle all sorts of lifestyles, from active to family and everything in between. While passengers can appreciate the premium interior features, the driver will enjoy the driving dynamics inspired by the philosophy of Jinba Ittai—a harmony between the car and the driver. The 2018 Mazda3 carries a starting MSRP2 of $18,095.
