1931 Stutz DV32 Convertible Victoria Wins 'Best of Show' at 2018 Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The coveted 'Best of Show' was awarded today at the closing event of the 17th annual Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival, held at the Port Royal Golf Club on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The top honor at Sunday's Concours d'Elegance, 'Best of Show,' was awarded to a 1931 Stutz DV32 Convertible Victoria owned by Joseph & Margie Cassini of West Orange, NJ.

The Best of Show was chosen from the event's Best Rolling Art vehicle (Cassini's 1931 Stutz DV32 Convertible Victoria), Best Production/Performance vehicle – The Paul Doerring Founders Award (1967 American Shelby GT350 Fastback, Hunt & Pat Palmer-Ball, Louisville, KY) presented by the Doerring family and Best Road & Track vehicle (1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gull Wing, Jeff Files, Durham, NC).

Attendees at the event chose a 1929 Ford Station Wagon as their 'People's Choice' winner. The car is owned by Thomas & Donna Fitzgerald of Selma, NC.

In addition to the vehicle awards handed out on Sunday, winners were announced during Sunday's festivities for the 2nd Annual Michelin Junior Challenge Design, a scholarship program in partnership between the Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance, Michelin and the Beaufort County School District. Lily Tothero from Hilton Head High School was announced as the overall winner.

This annual gathering of collectors, enthusiasts and visitors who appreciate the design, technology and beauty of memorable automobiles, boats and motorcycles, is one of the fastest growing automotive lifestyle events in the country. Carolyn Vanagel, the event's President, noted, 'we had more vehicles on the show field this year than ever before, and our Concours show field is filling up faster and faster with the country's finest. And we have already been working on several additions for next year's event to keep it fresh and exciting for both our visitors and exhibitors. 2019 is set to be another record-breaking year with more in store.'

More than 500 vehicles made their way to the Hilton Head Island, South Carolina lowcountry this weekend to participate in the 17th annual Festival. Numerous automotive icons were in attendance including Bob Boniface (Director of Design, Buick Exteriors), Moray Callum (Vice President, Design, Ford Motor Company), Ralph Gilles (Head of Design, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V.), legendary endurance racer Hurley Haywood, Robin Page (Head of Design, Volvo Car USA LLC), and Jay Ward (Creative Director of the 'Cars' Franchise, Pixar Animation Studios). Renowned French automobile collectors Peter and Merle Mullin and long-time supporter and South-Carolina-based collector Paul Ianuario of Duncan, SC were recognized as the 2018 Pinnacle and Honored Collectors.

The Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance celebrated its 17th year in the fall of 2018.
