Volkswagen Beetle And Passat Named Best Values In America By Vincentric

Beetle tops the compact category, while Passat wins in the midsize segment

Herndon, VA (January 29, 2019) — Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce that the brand has won two awards in Vincentric's Best Value in America AwardsTM, with Beetle topping the compact category and Passat winning in the midsize segment. The awards are model-specific honors reflecting Vincentric's determination of which vehicles represent the best value in each segment. Vincentric determines value using a statistical analysis that incorporates the current market price and total cost-of-ownership of all 2019 model year vehicles.

Vincentric measures cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost and repairs. Using a statistical model, Vincentric identified the Best Value in America winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. More than 3,000 vehicle configurations were evaluated in all 50 states plus D.C. using a range of annual mileage intervals and insurance profiles.

'We are thrilled with these awards for Beetle and Passat,' said Scott Keogh, CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. 'We have made great strides towards reducing the overall cost of ownership of our cars in recent years, and these awards reflect the hard work that has occurred throughout the organization.'

'Volkswagen products showed strong performance in our awards this year' said David Wurster, Vincentric President. 'Having the lowest maintenance cost in its class helped the Beetle earn our top honor while the 2019 Passat delivered value by having the lowest operating costs of all mid-size passenger cars.'

The 2019 model year is the last for the Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most iconic cars in the world. As production ends later this year, the Beetle lineup adds two Final Edition models—inspired by the first-generation Beetle's final run in Mexico, where the vehicle is assembled—alongside the S and SE models. Prices start at $20,895 for the Beetle S with automatic transmission.

The 2019 Volkswagen Passat features a winning combination of sophisticated design, advanced driver-focused technology, interior space and comfort, and European road manners. Pricing starts at $25,295 for the Passat Wolfsburg Edition with automatic transmission.

Beetle and Passat, along with the rest of the 2019 Volkswagen family (except e-Golf), will come with the People First Warranty, a six-year or 72,000-mile (whichever occurs first) bumper-to-bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which includes powertrain coverage for engines and transmissions and can be transferred to a subsequent owner throughout the remainder of its duration.
