Ferrari Racing Days To 'Paint The Track Red' May 10-12Ferrari brings marquee event to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif., May 9, 2019 – Few names in the automotive and racing worlds can wield such a high level of pedigree, performance and passion like the word 'Ferrari.' The familiar rosso corsa ('racing red') colors that have long branded the legendary Italian car manufacturer and racing team have covered much of the facility at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for Ferrari Racing Days May 10-12.

The North American leg of Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli returns for the third round of the North American championship. However, unlike the Challenge rounds thus far, Ferrari Racing Days is the annual opportunity for Ferrari Challenge pilots and the epic cars of the XX Program and F1 Clienti to share the circuit for one incredible weekend of Ferrari.

One of the most anticipated events of the season will feature approximately 50 turbocharged 488 Challenge cars competing for position and accolades, the F1 Clienti and XX Program cars demonstrating their superb driving performance in separate on-track sessions, and a paddock full of new and collector Ferraris.

Four Formula 1 single-seaters, one F333 SP and more than 18 XX Programme cars will appear on the circuit. The cars will lap the continuously undulating track with its famous Corkscrew turn.

Record-breaking F2003 GA

This twisting track offers very few straights, but it does give drivers the chance to make a difference. On this occasion, it will host the F1 2000 with which Rubens Barrichello debuted for Ferrari and in which he won the spectacular German Grand Prix, and two F2004s, driven by the Brazilian and Michael Schumacher. This single-seater remains one of the Prancing Horse's best, winning 15 out of 17 Grands Prix that year. However, the guest of honor will be the F2003 GA in which Michael Schumacher won the world title and first place at the U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis. Although it never competed here, the car has had a special relationship with the California track since it last hosted Ferrari Racing Days in 2012 when Marc Gené set the unofficial track record of 1:05.78.

The F333 SP returns to site of triumph

Along with the Formula 1 cars, an F333 SP, the Prototype Sport barchetta, will also enjoy an outing on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile circuit. This car wrote some unique pages in motorsport history in the U.S. and triumphed at the 1994 Monterey Sports Car Grand Prix with drivers Andy Evans and Fermín Vélez during the only time the track hosted an IMSA event with World SportsCar Challenge as the feature class.

XX Programmes

The XX programmes and their extraordinary technological workshops will also make an appearance. Eighteen cars will give customer testers the chance to take full advantage of the unique technical features of the Ferrari FXX-K Evo, with its exceptional V12 engine equipped with Hy-Kers, and an output of over 1060 hp. Eleven examples of the latest addition to the programme will be accompanied on the track by the 599 XX, 599 XX Evo and FXX and Maranello's pool of technicians and engineers along with the Scuderia's testers.

Ferrari Racing Days is a can't-miss event for Ferrari enthusiasts that even the most casual racing fan can enjoy. Tickets and information are available at www.WeatherTechRaceway.com or by calling 831-242-8200.
