• World's Largest Collector-Car Auction Company Returns to Convention Center

Walworth, Wis. – Oct. 1, 2019 – Mecum Auctions will host its third annual Las Vegas collector car auction this Oct. 10-12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and this year, in addition to the anticipated 1,000 vehicles and more than 400 Road Art items slated to cross the auction block, a selection of approximately 25 highly collectible, investment-grade guitars will also be offered as part of Mecum's new department: Mecum Presents Guitar Search by Domino.

Highlights at this uniquely diverse auction range from muscular domestic autos, such as an unrestored 1971 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T (Lot S111), to foreign exotics like a recently serviced 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona (Lot S98). Collection offerings comprising approximately 100 vehicles also rank among the top automotive draws at Mecum Las Vegas 2019, including the no-reserve Robert Thomas TA Collection of 11 Pontiac Trans Ams ranging from two 4-speed 400 CI 1970 models (Lots S63 and S64) up through a 1999 30th Anniversary Edition (Lot S69).

Headlining the debut of the Guitar Search segment in Las Vegas is a collection of six blue-ribbon, coveted classic guitars from the private collection of Geddy Lee of the celebrated Canadian rock trio Rush; the hand-selected group is highlighted by a 'holy grail' 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar boasting the definitive Sunburst finish (Lot S131) and also includes four other Gibson models and a 1955 Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar (Lot S148). Other guitars set to take to the Mecum stage include the Carlos Santana-owned 1983 PRS Double Neck Electric Guitar (Lot S218), the 2016 Gibson No. 31 Custom Shop Guitar (Lot S177) created for and autographed by Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen and the gold 1990 Warwick Buzzard Bass (Lot S118) custom designed for John Entwistle of The Who, to name just a few.

Among the top offerings from Mecum's Road Art department will be the Surf City Garage Collection of more than 350 collectible and vintage signs, coolers, gas pumps, clocks and more, headlined by a selection of large-scale neon signs. A unique Buick Sales and Service channel letter neon sign (Lot K139), a 1950s-era Sandman Motel double-sided porcelain neon sign with arrow (Lot K137) and another 1950s double-sided porcelain neon from the Oklahoma Tire and Supply company (Lot K136) are all key pieces expected to draw lots of attention and impressive bids.
