Volkswagen Donates Beetle Convertible Final Edition To Benefit Erlanger Neuroscience Institute

Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition raffled off at inaugural 2019 Chattanooga MotorCar Festival

Herndon, VA — Volkswagen of America, Inc., donated a 2019 Beetle Convertible Final Edition SEL at the Chattanooga MotorCar Festival this past weekend. The Festival raffled off the vehicle to benefit the Erlanger Neuroscience Institute, beneficiary of the festival and the region's only certified academic Neuroscience Center. Sponsored by Volkswagen, the multi-day celebration of classic and current vehicles was held in downtown Chattanooga, October 11-13.

The Erlanger Neuroscience Institute is focused on a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach that helps enhance the quality of care for patients and families, and facilitates training to healthcare professionals. Erlanger's neurological specialists treat adult and pediatric patients with a variety of disorders, and use the latest advancements in imaging technology to diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans.

Before the Chattanooga MotorCar Festival activities began, the weekend kicked off with the debut of the all-new 2020 Atlas Cross Sport at the company's state-of-the-art factory in Chattanooga, TN. The Atlas Cross Sport will be assembled alongside the Atlas and Passat at the Volkswagen Chattanooga plant, the result of approximately $340 million of additional investment by Volkswagen in the facility. Volkswagen has now invested more than $2.6 billion in the area and has about 3,800 direct employees. Future plans for the Chattanooga factory include another $800 million investment for the production of electric vehicles.

The Beetle raffle is one more in a series of events to honor Volkswagen's most iconic model as it ends production this year. Two special models joined the Beetle lineup for its last model year—Final Edition SE and Final Edition SEL. Available in coupe and convertible body styles, the Final Edition models include exclusive equipment and unique upscale décor elements designed to send the Beetle off in style. Models also draw inspiration from the final run of the first-generation Beetle in Mexico, where the vehicle is assembled. All 2019 Beetle models are powered by a 2.0 liter TSI® engine that puts out 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. All models are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and the EPA-estimated fuel economy rating is 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined.
