No Time To Delay Silverstone Auctions Now Consigning For Race Retro• Catalogue is now open for consigning cars to Race Retro sale

•Race Retro sale takes place at Stoneleigh Park 22nd to 23rd February

•Classic and competition cars of all marques are being invited

Silverstone Auctions have today opened their catalogue for their first sale of 2020 at the historic Race Retro show held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Now in their ninth year of a successful partnership, the Race Retro Sale will be offering a selection of classic and competition cars over two days at Europe's number 1 historic motorsport show. Last year saw some fabulous results and coming off the back of a successful auction at the NEC and at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia last month, now is the time to get in touch if you wish to sell your car.

There also appears to be renewed interest in Aston Martin and the timing couldn't be more perfect as the official trailer for the new Bond film, No Time To Die, was released yesterday as Silverstone Auctions opened their catalogue for consignments.

At their sale in November two excellent examples of the Aston Martin DB5, models that have been driven by James Bond, sold for £618,000 and £607,000 respectively.

A low mileage and one owner 1984 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India sold for £155,000, whilst a 1984 Vantage Volante was confirmed after extensive research as the sister car to the Cumberland Grey Vantage Volante belonging to Victor Gauntlet that starred in early scenes of The Living Daylights. This no doubt helped to secure the eventual price of £202,500.

The 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service featured a 1968 Aston Martin DBS and a near-identical car was offered by us at the NEC Classic Motor Show and sold for £73,125.

Silverstone Auctions Managing Director Nick Whale commented 'The V8 Vantage Volante we sold is a classic example of why you should use a specialist auction house; it was sourced and identified by one of our consignors as a rare standard bodied Vantage Volante and after extensive research it was confirmed as the sister car to the actual Bond screen car.'

'We've sold a number of other 'Bond' cars and there is clearly a premium for models that are similar to the screen cars in terms of colours and specification. It's just not Astons that benefit from the association, in the past we've achieved good hammer prices for the BMW Z8, Lotus Esprit and even the Sunbeam Alpine, arguably the first Bond car of them all.'

'Looking forward to our sale at Race Retro, our consigners are already working hard with potential vendors wishing to consign their cars. Our NEC sale was a huge success and we are really looking forward to next year and to continue offering some of the highest quality cars with great provenance the market can offer.'

Silverstone Auctions are now accepting cars for the auction and can be contacted on 01926 691141 or email enquiries@silverstoneauctions.com and would be happy to talk with you and help you through the process of consigning your car.
