Trent Hindman And Shelby Blackstock Team Up In Nsx GT3 EVO To Run 2020 SRO GT World Challenge Americas

•Acura Motorsports development drivers coming together in 2020

•The pair will compete in full 13-round SRO GT World Challenge America season

•Duo demonstrates HPD's commitment to helping young drivers progress

February 28, 2020 — Santa Clarita, CA Trent Hindman, the 2019 International Motor Sports Association GT Daytona class champion, will pair with Shelby Blackstock, a multi-race winner in his Civic Type R TCR, for a full-season effort in the 2020 SRO GT World Challenge America Series in an Acura NSX GT3 Evo, it was announced today.

Blackstock and Hindman will compete for Racers Edge Motorsports as a Silver Cup team in the 13-round GT Championship that features world-class competition. The pairing is a natural fit for both drivers, as each has enjoyed success while competing in Sports Car and Touring Car endurance classes.

Hindman co-drove an Acura NSX GT3 Evo with Meyer Shank Racing teammate Mario Farnbacher to the IMSA GTD team and drivers' championships last year. Blackstock has co-driven to multiple victories in IMSA's Michelin Pilot Challenge Touring Car competition, and scored back-to-back wins with co-driver Tom O'Gorman at Daytona and Sebring last year.

'I'm very excited to get into the Acura NSX GT3 Evo with a teammate like Trent,' Blackstock said. 'With my endurance racing experience in the TCR class, there's no better way to continue my progress than with a class champion like Trent and the proven Acura NSX GT3 Evo.'

Hindman, who is also running 2020 IMSA endurance racing events for Heinricher Racing w/MSR Curb-Agajanian, is pleased to add a full SRO season to this year's schedule. He knows that finding the right co-driver is a necessity to competing for class championships.

'Shelby's a great pairing for me, given his experience and success in endurance racing at tracks like Daytona and Sebring,' noted Trent. 'I know he'll be able to compete for the win in the NSX GT3 Evo right away. Plus, having more time racing with Acura Motorsports and HPD is always a good thing!'

With drivers Martin Barkey and Kyle Marcelli, Racers Edge captured the 2019 SRO World Challenge GT Pro/Am Driver Championship. As with all Acura NSX GT3 Evo teams, Acura Motorsports and HPD will provide technical and trackside support for the vehicle at every round of the series and at official test events.

'We have seen the success of the Acura Motorsports programs and this pairing is an example of how our HPD product line can bring talented drivers together,' said John Whiteman, Manager, HPD Commercial Motorsports. 'We see this as an opportunity for Shelby and Trent to continue to develop their racecraft, and cannot wait to see what they do together.'
