LONDON (08 June 2020) – RM Sotheby's first auction held in Europe via its proprietary online platform, Online Only: The European Sale, comprising more than 180 fine collector cars and incorporating nearly 100 cars without reserve from The Petitjean Collection, is set to come to a thrilling end over 10 & 11 June. With considerable bidder registration already logged, all lots are currently open for bidding on rmsothebys.com, with a myriad of diverse and exciting vehicles accompanied by a range of highly desirable memorabilia, parts and collectibles.

Among the cars currently listed for auction is the rare and extremely desirable 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 by Bertone, surely one of the most iconic sports cars of the 20th century and a part of the Petitjean Collection since 1979 (Est. €700,000-€800,000). And if rare sports cars with a competition pedigree are your thing, few can beat the appeal of the 1964 Porsche 904 GTS, one of the most beautifully formed and decidedly capable competition racing cars to appear from the Stuttgart marque, and a car which would be welcomed at historic motorsport events the world over (Est. €700,000-€900,000). Both incredible cars are offered without reserve as part of the amazing Petitjean Collection, a collection of cars devotedly built by the ardent enthusiast and ex-racing driver, Monsieur Marcel Petitjean in Strasbourg, France.

Also featured within the Online Only sale is an incredible selection of Italian sports cars representing almost 90 years of automotive design, history, and development. Regarded as one of the most beautiful pre-war sports cars ever produced, the 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Turismo Series IV Spider in the style of Zagato was delivered new the UK and has remained there its whole life, retaining its original chassis and engine following a sympathetic restoration by marque specialists in the 1980s (Est. €400,000-€450,000). Enthusiasts of the Alfa Romeo name can also place their bids for a beautifully proportioned and highly useable 1955 Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint Coupe by Touring, which has been upgraded with a 2.0-litre Spyder cylinder head and dual Weber carburettors, offering grace, performance and practicality in one beautiful package (Est. €220,000-€300,000).

Joining the Italian representation is a pair of 12-cylinder Ferrari models, with the ultimate poster car of its generation, the 1977 Ferrari 512 BBdelivered new to German football ace, Günter Netzer (Est. €220,000-€260,000), alongside the 2018 Ferrari GTC4 Lusso 70th Anniversary, in no.9 White Spider livery and virtually as-new with just 800km. This is a modern Ferrari offering performance and a level of practicality rarely found in the Maranello marque (Est. €260,000-€320,000).

And for lovers of the classic pre-war 'Grand Routiers', the sale offers an example of one of the most magnificent, high performance touring cars of the era, a unique 1939 Bugatti Type 57 Cabriolet by Gangloff, with one-off special cabriolet coachwork by Lucien Schlatter and powered by Bugatti's fabulous 8-cylinder, grand prix derived engines (Est. €750,000-€850,000). If German engineering is more for you, it's hard to ignore the 1938 Mercedes-Benz 320 Cabriolet B, built for the Swedish royal family, another well-documented and magnificent car for a dedicated pre-war car enthusiast to enjoy (Est. €325,000-€400,000).

The Petitjean Collection is presented entirely without reserve and will close for bidding on 10 June. All other lots offered in Online Only: The European Sale will close on 11 June. All lots are available for viewing on rmsothebys.com.

Each car offered in the Online Only auction is presented with comprehensive photography and in most cases accompanied by condition reports completed by RM Sotheby's specialists as well as catalogue descriptions. Where available, additional information on each lot, such as history files, production certificates, restoration documentation, service invoices, owner's manuals, and accompanying parts can be viewed online, once logged in to rmsothebys.com.

Bidder registration for Online Only: The European Sale featuring the Petitjean Collection requires very simple steps to complete. RM Sotheby's Client Service team is ready to assist interested bidders with any part of the account creation or registration process. Additional information on 'How Bidding Works' will appear on each lot page once the lot is live and when clients are logged in as registered bidders.
