Now into his sixth year as Managing Director of SEAT UK, Richard has driven one of the most successful periods in its history, helping the brand surpass sales expectations, while reimagining the full potential of its vehicle line-up. The Autocar Awards is an annual event, celebrating the most exceptional cars and people in the industry. Since winning the accolade for the first time in 2018 for his work consolidating the Spanish carmaker's position in the UK market, Richard has further developed the SEAT brand overseeing unprecedented growth. This recognition for his work by Autocar follows the launch of the Arona and Tarraco SUVs, the simplification of the model range's specification line-ups through the innovative 'easymove' strategy; as well as launching the Mii electric, SEAT's first ever all-electric car. Mark Tisshaw, editor at Autocar, commented on the award win: 'When Richard Harrison won this award two years ago, the Spanish brand was already firmly established as a car maker to watch with rapidly growing sales and an appealing product range.

'Harrison's time over the past two years has only reinforced that; the brand now has products in over 80% of segments and sales grew by 9.4% in 2019 – a figure very few can claim given the difficult market – resulting in a market share of 2.98%.' Richard Harrison added: 'This award is a result of the tremendous work from everyone at SEAT, who have all helped make the brand such a success story over the past few years. 'I'm delighted with the results of our UK growth, but the work doesn't stop here though and, while the year ahead is undoubtedly going to be challenging for everyone, I'm optimistic about the future potential for SEAT and CUPRA, as we have more exciting new products and activities just around the corner.' 2020 is set to be one of the most exciting in SEAT and CUPRA's history, with the arrival of the highly-anticipated new Leon and its plug-in hybrid variants, as well as the launch of CUPRA's first standalone vehicle, the CUPRA Formentor.
