September Sales Secure Record Q3 Sales Performance

•September sales contribute to record breaking Q3 for Kia UK

•Q3 sales top 28,185 units sold, with a September contribution of 14,896

•Niro family takes top sales spot in the Kia Range

Following a challenging Q2, Kia Motors (UK) Ltd. are celebrating a record Q3 delivering a total of 28,185 vehicles to customers around the UK. This represents an all-time high Q3 market share of 4.8 per cent, 0.2 per cent above last year.

July and August both delivered record sales results for Kia, with September coming in strong with total sales of 14,896, placing the brand eighth in the market overall.

During Q3 the long-standing best seller for Kia, the Sportage SUV, was beaten to the top spot by the Niro family made up of a self-charging hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric variant, selling a total of 8,273. Hybrid variants dominated the Niro family sales chart with 4,543 units sold, followed by the all-electric variant, e-Niro, selling 2,990. The Niro family and Sportage SUV were closely followed by Kia's popular and renowned A segment contender, the Picanto.

Across the quarter Kia achieved an encouraging 32 per cent eco vehicle sales mix, 16 per cent going to self-charging hybrids, 12 per cent to all-electric vehicles and the other four per cent to plug-in hybrid vehicles offered by the brand.

Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia Motors (UK) Ltd. commented on the achievement. 'During this quarter we and our dealer partners have seen excellent results each month and a small shift in customer demand, with more opting for our extensive range of eco cars. A 12 per cent sales mix of pure EVs is particularly encouraging as we progress towards our electrified future.

These past few months are testament to our excellent relationship with our dealer network and their highly efficient franchised operations. Not only did we achieve a record Q3, but we were also rated highly in the summer NFDA survey and voted Manufacturer of the Year in the 2020 Car Dealer Power awards.'
