2022 Mecum Gone Farmin' Spring Classic Achieves $7.8 Million in Overall Sales

93% of All Lots Hammer Sold at Two-Day Auction
Seven tractors from the highly regarded Mike and Denise Smith Collection landed spots among the top 10 sellers list—including the most valuable John Deere 20 Series tractors to ever be sold at auction. A John Deere 8020 (Lot F70) claimed the prominent No. 1 seat selling for $367,500. Coming in as the auction's No. 2 highest seller was the rare 1926 Bryan Steam Tractor (Lot F30), one of five left in the world, which crossed the block on Friday and sold for $220,500. As the only first-generation Peterbilt ever to be offered at auction, a 1939 Peterbilt Model 260GD 5-Ton Truck (Lot K11) from the much-anticipated Hays Museum Antique Truck Collection followed at $181,500. A 1969 John Deere 3020 FWD Powershift (Lot F81), another featured tractor from the Mike and Denise Smith Collection and believed to be the only one in existence, sold for $157,500.
More than 250 lots of Road Art were offered at the Spring Classic event, and the well-received segment achieved an impressive 98% sell-through rate overall. Road Art sales were topped by a John Deere Plows single-sided smalt sign (Lot M22), which sold for a total of $47,200, and a John Deere double-sided porcelain bullnose neon sign (Lot M50), which sold for a total of $20,060. A John Deere Farm Implements double-sided porcelain sign (Lot M23) came in as the segment's third highest seller at $11,800.

The world's largest vintage tractor auction company, Mecum Auctions, reached more than $7.8 million in overall sales in just two days in front of a standing-room-only crowd at its 2022 Gone Farmin' Spring Classic auction. The event was held March 24-26 at Bend XPO in East Moline, Illinois. The auction featured 693 lots of tractors, vintage trucks, Road Art and relics on offer and achieved a strong 93% sell-through rate.
