Polestar 2 named New Car of the Year 2022 by Auto Trader and Best Electric Compact Executive Car by EcoCar Magazine

The premium electric fastback Polestar 2 has added multiple awards to its trophy cabinet this week with a trio of wins at the Auto Trader awards 2022 and an appearance in the Electrified Top 50 from EcoCar magazine. Auto Trader named the Polestar 2 New Car of the Year, Most Loved Car and Best Premium Electric Car of 2022. EcoCar magazine has voted the Polestar 2 its Best Electric Compact Executive Car during its 2022 Electrified Top 50 awards.

Decided by 156,500 real car owners, in one of the industry's largest consumer studies, the Auto Trader awards are based on analysis of huge amounts of data to determine true consumer champions. The premium five-door all-electric fastback was deemed the winner in each of its three categories by owners thanks to its style, innovative technology and high-quality ownership experience.

Erin Baker, Auto Trader's Editorial Director, said: 'The Polestar 2 is a stylish, all-electric sporting crossover that takes zero-emissions motoring seriously while preserving a premium ownership experience, with high-quality tech alongside a vegan interior. It's no surprise that it has taken the UK by storm since its initial launch in 2020.

'Racking up three awards at the Auto Trader New Car Awards this year is a true testament to the great strides Polestar is taking to make sure consumers are getting the best experience possible. For EcoCar the awards were determined by the magazine's road test reviews, plotting the top 50 electrified cars tested in 2022, with the Polestar 2 finishing in the top 20. In the end the Polestar 2 was named the Best Electric Compact Executive Car of 2022, impressing the judges with its design, interior quality and intuitive infotainment system as well as its affordable £41,900 starting price.

Ian Robertson, editor of EcoCar magazine says 'The arrival of a single-motor Standard Range version means the Polestar 2 is now more affordable, just ducking under £42,000. It still has a decent range too, of up to 294 miles on a single charge with its updated 69kWh battery, so we reckon it will be the sweet spot for many buyers. Other versions get a 78kWh capacity and a choice of 228 or 402bhp, the latter for scalded cat acceleration. We love the 2's quirky styling and solid interior, with a Google-based infotainment system that's child's play to use. It's little wonder that Polestar shifted more than 4,000 of them last year, in its first full year on sale.'

Launched in 2020, the Polestar 2 has now racked up over 100 international industry awards with over 55,000 cars on the roads globally. Polestar has taken over 32,000 customer orders globally for Polestar 2 since the start of 2022, representing an increase of 290% versus the same period in 2021.

Polestar 2 was launched in 2020 embodying the brands' design-led philosophy with a vegan as standard interior, a world first in the intuitive Google Android Automotive Operating System and unique Polestar details like the symbol projected onto the underside of the panoramic glass roof.

Since that launch the range has increased to add single motor variants, ensuring consumers can choose the with the blend of performance and range that suits their needs. Recently Polestar unveiled the Polestar 2 BST edition 270 with uprated power of 476hp, mechanical modifications along with key design enhancements. The Polestar 2 is priced from £41,900 for the single motor version which offers up to 294 miles (WLTP).
