The iconic Maserati coupé awarded at Top Gear Electric Awards
Top Gear magazine acknowledged the elegant, four-seat coupé, GranTurismo Folgore, as the first-ever Maserati to feature an all-electric powertrain.
Rising above many other important and well-known competitors, the Trident's inaugural model received a nine out of 10 rating in its first road test, with the experienced judging panel at Top Gear commenting on its win that, 'Not everyone will get the grand tourer as right as Maserati. It's reinvented the packaging'.
'With 750bhp from a three-motor set-up, it's more than fast enough, yet has the chassis nous to not only cope, but drive with the verve, accuracy, and compliance you want from a GT. You can detect passion and flair in the Folgore.'
Responding to the award, Maserati North Europe General Manager, Peter Charters, added: 'I would like to thank the judges of Top Gear who voted for our latest model. Maserati is delighted to receive such esteemed recognition for the ground-breaking GranTurismo Folgore – our iconic product that is leading the House of the Trident into the next chapter of its rich history with new leading-edge electric powertrain solutions.'
The all-new GranTurismo arrives in the UK this summer in Modena and Trofeo guise, with V6 petrol engines, while the Folgore version is set to land in the autumn.
