Hyundai celebrates a double win for IONIQ range at Auto Trader New Car Awards 2023• UK car owners vote IONIQ 5 as Most Loved Car

•IONIQ 6 adds the Erin Baker Award to run of accolades

Hyundai has scooped two prestigious accolades during this year's Auto Trader New Car Awards, with IONIQ 5 named the UK's Most Loved Car and IONIQ 6 clinching the Erin Baker Award.

The annual awards, now in their seventh year, aim to recognise brands and cars which are achieving excellence in the eyes of the people whose opinion matter the most: car owners. The 2023 Auto Trader New Car Awards saw over 220,000 UK car owners share their thoughts and opinions (obtained from real-world experience) to determine 20 of this year's 23 winners.

The methodology ensures that the awards are a true reflection of what UK consumers think of their car and what they want from it, with the IONIQ 5's compelling credentials sealing its latest honour as the UK's Most Loved Car.

Since going on sale in 2021, IONIQ 5 has scooped a significant haul of award trophies across the media landscape. The introduction of a 77kWh battery pack is just one enhancement for the 2023 model year, with range extended up to 315 miles and power increase to 325PS – an 11PS rise over the previous 72.6 kWh battery. A new battery heating and conditioning feature is also now standard across the range to enable more consistent charging whilst the E-GMP platform's standard 800v charging system provides 350kW ultra-fast charger compatibility. Handling and ride comfort have also been upgraded with the addition of smart frequency dampers to improve the response of the front and rear suspension.

Additionally, the IONIQ 6's run of awards increases with Auto Trader's Editorial Director, Erin Baker, selecting the electrified streamliner as the winner of the Erin Baker Award, recognising the sustainable credentials and striking design of IONIQ 6.

Erin Baker, Auto Trader's Editorial Director, said: 'It's tough to follow in the footsteps of the IONIQ 5, but Hyundai has pulled it off with the 6 – a crazy-looking car with incredible boot space, brilliant reliability, decent electric range, competitive pricing and cool tech. Fantastic work, Hyundai!'
