NASHVILLE, Tenn. – INFINITI returns to the annual Pebble Beach™ Automotive Week and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance® with a range of activities headlined by a dramatic concept vehicle reveal that boldly signals the evolution of INFINITI design.
The INFINITI QX Monograph concept will make its global debut, showcasing the future direction of INFINITI's styling language. The vehicle has bold proportions and previews striking design elements, including the evolution of INFINITI's double-arched grille and 'digital piano key' lighting.
QX Monograph debuts at 10 a.m. on August 17 on the famed Concours awards ramp at The Lodge at Pebble Beach. Press conference attendees will enjoy an in-depth walkaround of the concept's styling elements from Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president of global design. Also in attendance will be Craig Keeys, group vice president, INFINITI Americas, and other executives.
Design History at Japanese Automotive Invitational (JAI)
INFINITI is teaming up with MotorTrend for the Japanese Automotive Invitational (JAI) for the fourth year. Bringing diversity to Automotive Week with a display of the best and brightest of Japanese vehicles, MotorTrend's Japanese Automotive Invitational presented by INFINITI is located within the Concours Village. It will be open Thursday, August 17 to Saturday, August 19 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Concours Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Some highlights of JAI include a collection of quarter-scale, highly detailed design models from Nissan Motor Co. Used to preview future model designs in three dimensions, with incredible levels of fidelity and detail, these vehicle models were crucial to reviewing vehicle styling before the widespread availability of computer-aided design (CAD) and today's 3D computer graphics. Nissan designers and craftspeople have identified nearly 100 such models and are meticulously resurfacing, restoring and rebuilding them.
More details on the history of these models will be shared at a later date. This will be the first time any of these models have been displayed publicly, outside of internal design presentations.
Four of these priceless models will be shown publicly at JAI:
•1916 DAT 41, an early Japanese production car. This model was recently completed by the craftspeople of Nissan Design in Atsugi, Japan, using scans of photos and actual vehicles.
•1966 Prince Skyline 2000-GTB, the last vehicle to be badged as a Prince, arguably the first Japanese premium luxury automotive company, before the Skyline adopted Nissan branding.
•1970 Nissan Skyline H/T, the first of the model series Nissan after Prince Motors and Nissan Motors merged.
•1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R, an internal model used to finalize the design of Nissan's legendary sports car. The paint on this model was the inspiration for the legendary Midnight Purple used on the R33 and R34 GT-R. To help put the models in context and highlight their incredible fidelity to real life, MotorTrend will display a matching, life-size version of the R34 GT-R.
Contrasting these historic designs will be a showcase of some of INFINITI's current models, including the new QX Monograph concept, the QX60 luxury crossover and the thrilling Q50 RED SPORT. The Q50 has the limited-edition Black Opal Edition package, which includes a stunning, color-changing iridescent paint scheme – matching the Midnight Purple seen on the 1995 Skyline GT-R model.
Charity and Media Center Sponsor
Now in its 17th year of supporting Pebble Beach Concours charities in the central coast area, INFINITI is donating a 2024 INFINITI QX60 LUXE to Seneca Family of Agencies and Salinas Valley Health for a charity drawing on Sunday during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
INFINITI is proud to once again be a co-sponsor of the Pebble Beach Concours Media Center, located in the Concours Village and open Wednesday through Sunday.
