Maldon, Essex – 4th April 2014: Classic car specialist JD Classics strongly supported Goodwood's first new motor sport event of the 21st Century - the 72nd Members Meeting - last weekend with four diverse race car entries.

Blessed by bright sunshine, great cars and exceptional motor racing, the exclusive 72nd Goodwood Members Meeting revived the spirit of the club members race meetings - last held in the mid-1960s - to perfectly optimise the phrase 'the right crowd and no crowding.'

The inaugural Saturday race at the 72nd Members Meeting - the two-part Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 production saloon cars of a type that raced between 1970 and 1982 - saw JD Classics' beautifully-prepared ex-Patrick Motorsport 1980 Rover 3500 SD1 qualify in fourth place, but swiftly take the race lead with Chris Ward at the wheel, going on to ultimately take race victory on Saturday.

Chris Ward - the victor of the Gerry Marshall Trophy Part 1 race - was joined by team mate Andrew Smith for Part 2 of this thrilling tin top dice on Sunday. Competing in a strong field of 30 lively saloons, Ward and Smith took another decisive win in JD's Patrick Motorsport-liveried SD1, with the V8 Rover powering past the hard-fought field of Ford Capris, Chevrolet Camaros, Triumph Dolomite Sprints, and other SD1s, as well as Nick Swift's rapid Mini 1275 GT, also emblazoned in Patrick Motorsport livery.

JD Classics' three other Goodwood entries all finished their respective races at the 72nd Members Meeting, including the unique 1954 Bentley R-Type 'Gooda' Special, competing in the Tony Gaze Trophy, as well as an en-Works 1954 Austin-Healey 100S in the Peter Collins Trophy, and JD Classics' founder and Managing Director, Derek Hood, successfully campaigning his 1959 Lister-Jaguar Costin in the Salvadori Cup closing race of the weekend.
