Those breakthrough fuel economy ratings mean Ram EcoDiesel surpasses the half-ton fuel economy record set last year by the 2013 Ram 1500. Equipped with a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 gasoline engine, that truck achieved up to 7.8 L/100 km (36 mpg) highway, a rating that continues for model-year 2014. Both engines and the legendary 5.7-litre HEMI V8 can be mated with Chrysler Group's segment-exclusive TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Canada's longest lasting pickup, Ram 1500, was recently crowned winner of the 2014 Canadian Truck King Challenge and for the first time ever, a back-to-back winner of the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award. With one in every five vehicles sold in Alberta last year coming from Chrysler Canada, Ram trucks were key in achieving the automaker's number-one sales position. In fact, with retail sales up by 3,847 units over 2012, Ram Truck earned the title of 'fastest growing truck brand in Alberta.' (2) 'I'm very proud of our achievements in Alberta in 2013, spearheaded by Ram Truck,' said Bob Devlin, Head of Chrysler Canada's Western Business Centre. 'Now comes the game-changing Ram EcoDiesel, plus eight other regional debuts in Edmonton. There has never been a better product line-up in our company's history, which is key in this business. Couple that with competitive financing and a dedicated dealer base who put the customers first and you get greater consumer confidence and sales.'
