NO LET-UP AFTER CHINA

Company press release.

NO LET-UP AFTER CHINAMaranello, 22 April – The third place in China that popped out of an Easter egg, after a laborious start to the season, has provided an additional boost to the crew of Scuderia Ferrari, as they tackle the heavy workload that awaits them at home in the three weeks prior to the next round of the championship in Spain. The updates brought to the Chinese Grand Prix saw the F14 T claw back some of the gap to the leaders and to improve when compared to the Mercedes team's closest pursuers. In working on getting the most out of the car, nothing was ignored. And now that work goes on without any let-up from the engineering team, on key areas such as driveability, power delivery and the car's aerodynamic configuration, all aimed at closing the performance gap still further.

The history of Formula 1 is peppered with examples of a season looking as though its done and dusted early on, such has been the dominance of one team, only for the situation to be turned around over the course of the year. Therefore, for the Scuderia to haul itself back to the front, the search is on for constant improvement producing consistent results.

Usually, the Spanish Grand Prix, which marks the return to the Old Continent, is something of a watershed. It provides a demanding test of the aerodynamic efficiency of the car and one can expect all the teams to arrive in Barcelona with an update package. Last year in Montmelo, both Fernando and Kimi, the latter then at Lotus, ended up on the podium, with Felipe Massa joining them in third in the other Ferrari. The F138 won with a considerable advantage over its main rivals, although the championship evolved in a rather different direction over the next few races. The outcome of the 2013 season is a clear indication that the most important thing in Formula 1 is the constant evolution of the package for each and every weekend and with this in mind, the Scuderia engineers will be progressing with their planned programme throughout the European part of the season.
