Trio of Rare, Fully Restored Shelby GT's Hits Showroom at RK Motors CharlotteCharlotte, N.C. – July 23, 2014 — Led by a pristinely restored GT500KR packing a ferocious 428 Cobra Jet V8, a trio of rare Shelbys have joined the burgeoning collection of classic, muscle and high-performance cars now available from Charlotte-based RK Motors.

One of just 530 four-speed KR fastbacks produced for the 1968 model year, the stellar pony car sports only 95,518 original miles. This awesome Shelby likely spent very little time in the showroom before its big power and head-turning style were unleashed on wide city streets. After roughly three decades of meticulous maintenance and accident-free driving, the car received a ground-up, rotisserie restoration.

Under the Ford's long, ventilated hood sits the original 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8 – completely rebuilt, including its 4174 Holley carburetor. Additional performance features include a number of correct components, including power steering, the original Toploader 4-speed manual transmission, power front disc and rear drum brakes, Ford 9-inch rear axle and Traction-Lok differential.

Equally stunning is the GT500KR's impeccable exterior, accentuated by the signature 'Wimbledon white' paint complementing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang styling cues ever created. Inside, the car boasts correct black leather interior and factory air conditioning. The whole package sits on a distinctive and familiar set of Shelby 10-spoke wheels.

'This Ford Mustang Shelby GT is a definitive example of one of the finest muscle cars ever produced,' said RK Motors Director of Marketing Jeff Spiegel. 'For the discerning enthusiast who demands the very best in high caliber, investment grade classics, this is the Shelby they've been patiently waiting for.'

The RK Motors showroom features an expansive selection of rare Shelby Mustangs, including a professionally restored '67 Fastback GT350 featuring a dynamic 289 Windsor V8 and 4-speed drivetrain pairing and the legendary Shelby white exterior and blue racing stripe. Also available is a sunlit gold metallic investment-grade '68, powered by a 428 Police Interceptor V8.
