TANNER FOUST RETURNS TO SHORT-COURSE RACING

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (October 27, 2014) - Rockstar Energy Drink driver Tanner Foust returned to short-course truck racing this weekend for a second run on the Pro 2 category of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

'I have so much respect for the drivers who do this every weekend,' said Foust. 'It's unbelievably difficult to learn to drive fast and make the truck fly correctly in the air -- all with the chaos of other trucks throwing mud in your face.'

The Lake Elsinore event was a successful learning experience for the multi-time rallycross and drift champion, who made a steady progression through the pack to earn a solid mid-pack finish Saturday in a competitive Pro 2 field.

'This has got to be the most extreme motorsport there is. You're jumping over 100 feet three times every lap, the trucks are dropping over 30 feet out of the air to the ground multiple times per lap,' said Foust. 'It seems the closer you come to rolling the truck over, the faster you're going.'

Foust competed in the Rockstar Energy Drink Pro 2 truck formerly driven by veteran off-roader Rob MacCachren, whose team handled the preparation. He made his Pro 2 debut at the April event in Lake Elsinore but a rollover and a blown engine ended his charge early.

Foust said it was exciting to join forces with another driver this season to experience a new motorsport discipline.

'One of the great things about being part of the Rockstar Energy Drink team of athletes is that we have amazing opportunities to work together like this,' said Foust. 'To be able to jump into a Pro 2 truck and compete at the highest levels of the sport with Rob (MacCachren) was incredible. I've got the bug now and I'd jump at the chance to race short course trucks again.'
