1910 Chalmers Detroit Model 30 Touring

This Model Thirty was formerly a part of the Carail Museum collection prior to its acquisition by the current owner in 2003. It is in highly original condition with only an older repaint in evidence. The black paintwork is trimmed with white pin striping and remains in presentable condition in modern times, showing only minor chips and scratches. The interior appears to be original and shows only minor wear, including a few rips to the button-tufted upholstery. There is a black canvas top, likely a replacement unit. Period features include the matched, Chalmers-specific Solar Model 1146 headlamps, a Jones 60-mph speedometer, and Solar Model 1032 side lamps, as well as a single Solar taillight.

The engine is a 141 cubic-inch, overhead-valve four-cylinder engine delivering 30 horsepower. There is a three-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel mechanical drum brakes. There is a solid front axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs with a live rear axle riding on three-quarter-elliptic leaf springs.

In 2010, this Model Thirty Touring car was offered for sale at the Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook where it was estimated to sell for $30,000 - $40,000. As bidding came to a close, the car was sold for $60,500, including the buyer's premium.
